The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, is Pakistan's oldest engineering university, founded in 1921 as Mughalpura Technical College and renamed Maclagan Engineering College in 1923 before becoming a university in 1961 and taking its current name in 1972. Its main campus sits on Grand Trunk Road near the Shalimar Gardens, running undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical and other engineering disciplines, along with architecture and computer science.
