UBL Main Branch is the Karachi main branch of United Bank Limited, founded in 1959 by Agha Hassan Abedi with its first branch on McLeod Road, now I.I. Chundrigar Road. UBL grew into one of Pakistan's largest banks and was the first Pakistani bank to open a branch abroad, in London in 1963. It was nationalised in the 1970s and privatised in 2002, and today runs more than 1,300 branches across Pakistan plus overseas branches.
